Residential Construction Project Manager
HoneyDew Improvements
Residential Construction Project Manager
Location: Glendale, WI, with regular travel to project sites throughout Milwaukee's North Shore.
Work Arrangement: Full-time, in-person position with time divided between the Glendale office and residential job sites throughout Milwaukee's North Shore.
HoneyDew Improvements is a family-owned, design-build remodeling company serving Milwaukee's North Shore. What began as a small handyman business more than eight years ago has grown into a trusted remodeling firm specializing in kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and whole-home renovations. Guided by service, compassion, integrity, and creativity, we deliver thoughtful craftsmanship, honest communication, and a remodeling experience that makes clients feel genuinely cared for.
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of residential remodeling projects from preconstruction handoff through final completion. You will manage schedules, budgets, trade partners, materials, client communication, and jobsite quality while anticipating challenges before they become delays.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who combines strong residential construction knowledge with exceptional organization and accountability. You will also review project plans, takeoffs, and budgets before construction begins, providing an experienced second set of eyes rather than serving as the primary estimator. As an early addition to our growing internal team, you will have meaningful influence over our systems, project outcomes, and continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple residential design-build remodeling projects valued from approximately $50,000 to $200,000 or more.
- Lead projects from preconstruction handoff through final punch list, closeout, and client turnover.
- Review plans, scopes, selections, takeoffs, and project budgets before work begins.
- Coordinate permits, approvals, subcontractors, suppliers, inspections, materials, and deliveries.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, adjusting proactively when conditions change.
- Divide time between the office and job sites to monitor progress, workmanship, safety, and adherence to plans.
- Serve as the primary client contact during construction, providing clear updates and addressing concerns professionally.
- Coordinate closely with designers, architects, trade partners, and ownership to clarify construction intent.
- Track job costs, milestones, change orders, scope adjustments, and project documentation accurately.
- Identify scheduling conflicts, budget concerns, and field issues early and resolve them before they affect the client experience.
- Hold subcontractors and project partners accountable while maintaining respectful, productive relationships.
- Help develop, document, and implement standard operating procedures and project management best practices.
- Support accurate material planning and provide construction insight during the estimating and preconstruction process.
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and according to HoneyDew's quality standards.
Qualifications
- At least four years of residential remodeling experience is required.
- Project management, superintendent, jobsite supervision, or comparable construction leadership experience.
- Strong working knowledge of residential construction methods, sequencing, and remodeling workflows.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, scopes of work, specifications, and selection documents.
- Proven ability to manage multiple active projects without losing control of deadlines, costs, or communication.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, designers, architects, permit offices, and inspectors.
- Strong understanding of project budgets, job costing, material planning, and change-order management.
- Experienced and comfortable using construction project management software; JobTread or Buildertrend experience is a plus.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, organization, and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills sufficient for client communication, project documentation, and jobsite coordination.
- Close attention to detail, dependable follow-through, and a strong sense of ownership.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for regular travel between the Glendale office and project sites throughout Milwaukee's North Shore.
- Comfortable working independently and contributing to a small, efficient, growing team.
- Spanish-language skills are helpful but not required.
- Carpentry or other hands-on residential construction experience is highly valued.
